The 5 Sessions

Week one | Me, Myself, and I. (understanding the brain)
Will be looking at and understanding how the brain gathers information and how this information is processed. We will look at the differences and similarities of a neurotypical brain with that of a neurodiversity brain and how the difficulties can present with behaviour and emotion. delivery of how weaknesses can be turned into strengths.
Week Two | Good Enough. (Building self-esteem)
Explores self esteem and self-worth and how neurodiversity may impact on this. We discuss negative patterns of behaviour and how simple ‘mindful’ techniques can make a huge difference in brain chemistry and increase confidence, courage, and self esteem.
Week Three | Inside and out, Back to Front. (Emotional Regulation)
This week is a natural follow on from last week and looks at how the brain forms believes, attitudes and patterns of behaviour. We look at anger and how anger can manifest in both neurotypical and neurodivergence and the difference between both. We will discuss strategies to be able to manage anger. We will also explain what fight or flight is in relation to neurodiversity and emotional regulation and why this may occur.
Week Four | Connecting and Communicating
Relationships are the main topic of this week’s session and how forming positive relationships can be difficult for some people for a number of reasons. We will look at what makes a positive relationship and what is inappropriate and un-balanced. We will also explore the qualities of a ‘trusted person’ and why positive relationships are important.
Week Five | “Give Your Brain a Break”
We will recap over what we have learnt over the last four weeks and also look at ways of ‘calming’ the mind and distraction and grounding techniques to defuse a potential threatening situation. We will also remind everyone of their uniqueness and demonstrate that every person has different thoughts, feelings, experiences and genetics including both neurodiversity and neurotypical, We will fully encourage diversity and equality and emphasis that attitude can be used in all aspects of daily life.
On Completion, each learner will also receive a Certificate of Accreditation and a sensory box (subject to availability and in line with the establishments policy and procedures).
