Give Your Brain a Break
A one-session course on neurodiversity, addiction, and everyday life.
This standalone session explores the strong link between neurodiversity and substance use disorders, as well as other addictive behaviours, and how these challenges impact daily life— particularly within the prison setting.
Participants will gain an understanding of:
• How the brain and emotions work and how this affects decision-making.
• The mental, emotional, and physical struggles that come with neurodiversity. • How brain function influences hormones, behaviour, and coping strategies.
By the end of the session, each individual will:
• Learn how to personally identify with neurodiversity and its connection to addiction. • Explore practical coping and calming strategies.
• Discover how to make small, sustainable changes to move towards freedom from addiction and other harmful behaviours.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for:
• Prisoners currently struggling with addiction.
• Families seeking to understand and support loved ones.
